Somebody That I Used to Know – Gotye and Walk Off the Earth

Somebody That I Used to Know - Gotye, Covered by Walk Off the EarthThe video for the song, “Somebody That I Used to Know” by Gotye was released on YouTube on July 5, 2011 and now has over 132.5 million views, which is quite an amazing feat. But, the song is very catchy with some clever lyrics. The chorus melody is quite awesome and the video is very sexy, in an interesting way, which is why we feel the song has done so well. Wouter “Wally” De Backer (Gotye) is a very creative guy. He collaborated with Kimbra Johnson on the song and she has a voice that blends well with Wally’s and draws you in. The song is perfect, leaving you wanting more, so you listen to it again and again and never get tired of it. It was cool to watch the video and then see the success over a few months and then eat at a restaurant and hear, “Somebody That I Used to Know” playing on the radio. Check it out!

The following video is a cover of “Somebody That I Used to Know” by Walk Off the Earth. This had to be included because it has also had major success and it really is a great cover. It would have even been a great original. I actually heard this version first and love it, but the original is my favorite now! The team, Joel Cassady, Sarah Blackwood, Gianni Luminati, Marshall and Taylor are all great musicians. Taylor plays like he’s just a shy / shady type of guy, but he’s really probably a genius of music. Walk Off the Earth makes some great videos where they all play a “part” of their instruments while playing a “part” of another instrument. You’ll have to watch their videos to know what I’m trying to say. Check out this video of “Somebody That I Used to Know” by Gotye. Enjoy!
