Traveller’s Sulky Race, Cork – Mallow Road

What I was told in driving school quite a few years back, was that driving on the highway is the easiest thing. I didn’t believe them at first since everyone’s going a lot faster than everywhere else but once the instructor brought me there, I’ve realized it really is quite simple. Go straight, watch for people up front and behind and you’re good to go. I’ve also realized that driving on a highway gets quite boring really soon as nothing is really happening. Until one day when I was lucky enough to have someone driving towards me. On a highway. So basically me doing 80 mph (130 kmh) and they doing the same for some unknown reason on the wrong side of the highway. Luckily enough none was overtaking anyone, else I don’t think I’d be around to write about it. What I’m trying to say is, highway can be boring and predictable, but that should not be taken for granted as you see all sorts of wacky things going on.
Just like on this Irish highway for instance. I don’t really understand what’s going on exactly, but I’m pretty sure that should not be happening.
